new quick painting

I created this painting following the same technique as the previous ones. I wanted to play with different type of palette for the skin color. Not really satisfied with the anatomy part of it but ..Hey.. who really knows waht a gobelin look like, let's say he is anice guy taking good care of his skin.
Ok maybe later I'll try ti add some texture to his skin.

The last class from Mark Behm is over :(
It was a class about character design. It is a huge subject and 3 sessions of 3h is very short, but Mark did a great job to introduce us to every part of it. He also showed us different technique to work values and, yesterday, colors. He talked about palettes and ways to bring your work togheter.
I need to right a longer post about what he talked about, mainly for myself to clarify it in my head.

spanish villages

just trying to apply what I learn about value on to a landscape. Started to work from big mass of value and slowly adding details.

again based on photography. I'm still practicing values and brushes. I'm not really happy because I do have too much contrast between each values...ok and he has one iris bigger than the other...oh well

after the 3rd class from Mark Behm, on character design and photoshop technique. this class was about value and simple brushes. very painterly look. About 20min.

face practice

A little face practice from a picture I found online, working on my values about 30 min.

Corado Soprano

One of my favorite character from the show.
About 1h worth of work. I'm not really satisfied with the likeness or the color hues. I think it needs a little more red in the skin. I found the exercise of working from reference really gratifying and helpful. Specially because it help me see my own flaws, like working too quickly on details instead of continuying working with masses until I get something I like.
I also have a problem in the eyes where they seems to be looking at you where in the reference the character looks off camera.... need to work on that.
